On our adventure to Page, Arizona, we booked a rafting trip up and down the Colorado River to see Horseshoe Bend. It was a half-day trip and aside from being over-schooled by our enthusiastic young guide about the geology, it was a fun trip and the sites were magnificent. Later that day, on a different tour, we visited the Horseshoe Bend Overlook which is the same view from 12,000 feet up.

For the Colorado River raft excursion, you ride for about an hour in a beautiful, new, modern tour bus through the gorgeous Navajo Nation. Then you ride for about 3 hours up and back the Colorado seeing cliffs and canyons 15,000 feet tall on each side of you. At Horseshoe Bend, you can get out for a short swim (BRRR!) or check out the petroglyphs carved into the sheer walls.
