Who you callin’ a “ho”? Our full-time RV adventure brings us to our second month in the Florida Keys and her highness wants to go to Key West for Chrstmas. I lived down there for 3 years a loooong time ago so it wasn’t quite the thrill it was for me as it was her. I did enjoy pointing out some of my old haunts and Key West adventures (many of those stories I will pay for later I am sure!) The first trip down, we had lunch at Sloppy Joes on Duval St. We tried to eat at the Bull and Whistle, but they only serve alcohol. The Bull and Whistle, and Sloppy Joes have been there since forever. Right around the corner is Captain Tony’s (the original location of Sloppy Joes). Back when I lived here Captain Tony was still with us, a colorful old pirate who sat at the corner of his own bar slamming tequila and stories. I think he might have run for mayor of Key West at one time.
Melinda went to tour Hemingway’s home, while Gizmo and I rode down memory lane and checked out some of the beaches and my old stomping grounds. We met back up at the Southernmost Point in the continental U.S. for a photo op and then went to lunch at the Flying Monkeys. The food was good, but Gizmo was less than thrilled with the free-range chickens. We had to declare he was a service dog to get him in. I just didn’t what service he performed.
