Manatees! Lobsters! and Keys! Oh My! November finds our intrepid adventurers in the Florida Keys. One day we are eating dockside at a local restaurant, another finds Melinda captaining a sailboat, and another finds us hanging with the manatees at the dock at our RV park. We stopped at one local tourist shop and Melinda got her picture with a gigantic lobster.
Melinda has decided this is where she wants to retire. I have decided she needs to find a rich boyfriend. The weather is gorgeous, but the cost of living here is NOT cheap.
We did have to make a change though. Our reservation for camping near Ft. Myers Beach was canceled (actually our 3rd set of reservations for that) due to the damage from Hurricane Ian. I get that they had to cancel, I just wish they would have done it a couple of months sooner. We had to rearrange all our winter reservations. We ended up deciding to stay in Big Pine Key for 33 days instead of the 14 we had planned. The cost is off the charts, but if you have to be stranded somewhere, the Keys are as good a place as any. We will be at Big Pine Key from Dec, 15th – Jan 18th. I always said that I wanted to die broke and at the winter rates for the Keys, that won’t be hard!
