Scenic, but brisk in November, Sedona/Verde Valley AZ was our latest pit stop with lots of tourists shops, restaurants, and roundabouts. Melinda coddiwhompled around a bit and took the Pink Jeep tour. Essentially they go rock climbing with a jeep. I’ve seen some of the videos and I think I will pass. Unless my hand is on the wheel, I prefer not to go flying off the edge of a mesa. Now if my hand IS on the wheel, that’s a completely different story. Speaking of which…
Flagstaff
After a frigid and somewhat eventful overnight in Flagstaff, we stayed in Sedona, AZ for three nights on our way to Yuma for the winter. I will mention “The Flagstaff Incident” here only once because it is NOT my shining moment. We were going to overnight in a Walmart parking lot in Flagstaff. I tried to get the RV and trailer into the entrance, which was very dark (either the light was out or the trees blocked any light). Long story short, by the time I realized the RV and trailer were never going to fit, we heard a gross crunching noise that turned out to be what a trailer and RV sound like when they are having intercourse with a cement light pole. God bless those insurance payments I have been hating every month. No one was hurt (excluding my pride) and I am happy to say the no cement poles were harmed in the making of this movie.
Sedona Adventures
Besides Melinda’s wandering and Jeep adventure, we rode my bike into Sedona and had dinner at Sound Bites, a nice restaurant with a stunning view. We ambled the crystal and tourists shops and she picked up a few things and all in all it was a pleasant little expedition. Even though it is Arizona, it can get a little brisk. It is about 4000 feet elevation and it got down to 16 one night and we woke up to 27 one morning. If it looks like sleet or ice in the pictures, it is.
One of the things I did while here (actually Cottonwood, AZ) was to roughly plot out our next 9 months of locations (according to the Princesses wishes, of course). I researched and made all the appointments for the Yuma items below as well as dealt with the insurance company for body repairs on the RV.
Upcoming Yuma – Expensive, Busy
Yuma looks to be very busy at first and very expensive. In the first few days, we have:
- a doctor’s appt the 2nd day we get there
- take the RV in for maintenance on Wednesday (fluids, engine, A/C, etc.) Wednesday
- body work on the RV and trailer due to a minor mishap with a cement light pole in Flagstaff.
- get a slide out fixed due to that same mishap.
- Gizmo goes to the vet that same Wednesday for a pre-neutering exam. Goodbye fatherhood, hello calmer dog.
