THERE IS NO LIFE WITHOUT CHOCOLATE!

Homemade Brownie Bites w/ Protein added

“So, Paul, without carbs and meat, what do you eat?” Glad you asked.

  • Protein shakes – Premier Protein makes a pretty decent protein powder (Chocolate Milkshake flavor) that you mix with skim milk to make an 8 oz. chocolate milk-like drink that has only 160 calories and 30 grams of protein
  • Salads – In Lose It! I created a recipe for a medium sized salad with the stuff I like on it (onions, bacon bits, cheese, fat-free Catalina, etc.) for about 258 cals and 19 grams of protein
  • Chicken Broth – made from powder, 2 cups (a bowl) is about 77 cals and 10 grams of protein. NOTE: Side effect – stay close to bathroom for about 2 hrs!
  • Egg Whites – scrambled, 5 = 85 cals + over 17 grams of protein.
  • Boiled Egg – hard boiled = 78 cal + 6.3 grams of protein, but 5.3 grams of fat – had to go real eggs due to egg shortage. They are bad for protein and fat, but good for muscle mass building
  • Brownie Bites – homemade, add 3 scoops of Premier Protein Powder, baking cocoa, an extra egg, and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter instead of oil. About 15 cals ea. + 1.2 grams of protein, I make them in a mini-cupcake tin so they are about the size of a quarter, but 5 are somewhat filling (ha!) for a snack, have less than 100 cal. + 6 grams of protein and are cheaper to make than cardboard-like granola bars are to eat. NOTE: They can be a little dry, but still better than protein bars! Pressed wood would be better than granola bars.
  • Sugar Free Fudgsicles helps snack cravings and about 40 cals. each
  • Turkey Meatballs – slow cooked in jelly, chili sauce. About 23 cals ea. = 2.3 grams of protein. Pack in Tupperware about 5 in each
  • Chicken – Tenderloins cut down to .5 oz = 23 cal + 4.4 grams of protein (about 4 make a small meal). Pan grilled with “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” spray + pepper. I grill a bunch and refrigerate for quick easy meals.
  • Chili with Beef and Beans – 1 cup = 256 cal + 15.2 grams of protein
  • Great Value Chocolate Chunk Chewy Granola Bar – 90 cal + 1 gram of protein. Fine to stop “the shakes” when starving, but tastes like particle board. But only about $.14 each (Walmart vs. $2.50 ea.for Optivia Protein bars @200 cal.)
  • Banana – 77 cal. + 1 gram of protein
  • Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup – 120 cal/cup, 6 grams protein
  • Air Popped Popcorn – 3 cups 140 cal, 1.7 grams protein
  • Hot Dog – catsup, mustard, onion, NO bun, (doubles the calories.) = 120 cal, 5 grams protein

You’ll notice that bread is missing. (I LOVE bread. I miss bread.) Also gone are chips, nachos, bologna, hot dogs, graham crackers, red meat, bacon (mmmm! bacon.) , and a host of other things that make life worth living. You can be skinny or happy, but not both!
